4th Microgrid & Distributed Energy Development
Pre-Conference Site Visit | Tuesday, March 15, 2016: Tour the Philadelphia Navy Yard Microgrid to Explore Technology, Financial and Economic Development Success
The Navy Yard’s senior energy team will provide this behind the scenes tour so that you can witness, first-hand, the important elements of this breakthrough microgrid. Visit with the project integrator and the important academic, R&D and business partners and see the key microgrid hardware, software, and stimulation assets up close.
The Navy Yard is one of the region’s greatest economic development successes as a national example of a modern, progressive and sustainable urban campus serving as home to more than 150 businesses and 3 navy activities, and more than 12,000 employees. As the country’s first self-contained navy installation, the electric grid now serves as one of the largest non-military unregulated grids in the eastern United States, around which this state-of-the-art series of microgrids is being developed as an example of what communities throughout the country can achieve in addressing climate change and scalable alternative energy and efficiency strategies.
